Multigenerational Olive Eggers include all of our Olive Egger projects, F1 and beyond. We are passionate about these projects....we truly love them and the endless possibilities they offer.  Each one was started here from scratch in an effort to create something uniquely our own.

     While we previously offered F1 and Multigen Olives separately, in 2027 we will be offering them together because we think this offers the greatest variety and range of colours. Each order will include at least 1 F1 OE.

     F1 (First Generation Olive Eggers) are the very first cross between a brown and a homozygous blue layer, ensuring that their offspring will lay green. 

    Beyond F1, we have several 1st through 4th generations of backcrosses created using our pure breeds and our F1 Olives. This also includes a multigen Olive project group led by a later generation Olive Egger rooster that has tested heterozygous for the blue egg gene. 

    Birds will vary in appearance …they may have fluffy beards, feathered legs and/or crests in a fun range of feather colours. Their temperament is friendly and sociable.

     Egg colour will vary as well. The purpose of multigen Olives is to create greater variation in egg color.... you could see deep shades of olive, sage,teal or spearmint...some with speckles (always a priority & goal in our breeding!) and/or blooms. F1 Olives will always lay green but in generations beyond this you may also see shades of terra cotta or various browns. Hens in this group will have a 50/50 chance of laying darker olive or brown, a 75% chance of green/25% chance of brown or a 100% chance of green....depending on the cross. Either way, this is where we find most of our most unique shades, as each egg is a product of layers of colour passed down by several generations. Multigens are for those of us that like surprises and/or are trying to acquire all the shades of the rainbow for our egg basket!

    Remember…as these are crosses, the egg the offspring lay will not be the same colour that they hatch from. If you have any questions about specific crosses, please ask.
